The bark of Hurricane Irene was far worse than the bite - the 24/7 news coverage and prominent coverage of our building - smack in the middle of Zone A aka the "mandatory evacuation zone" - had us rethinking our decision to stay right up until it actually hit. Thank goodness we didn't evacuate - we most certainly would have been in more danger in the surrounding areas or on the roads. We spent the eye of the storm in high style - mimosas, bloody mary's and fritatta in the movie screening room for the parents, while the kids watched Shrek.
