Steve and Lisa left Mom and Dad with two sick kids and a major snowstorm and escaped to Tulum, Mexico for six days. Despite the guilt, we enjoyed every second of the trip, reading, relaxing and catching up on sleep. We took advantage of 1-2 grey days with some sightseeing to nearby ruins and a town on the Yucatan peninsula where we were stopped by a fierce looking group of about 20 policemen with machine guns who made us get out of the car so they could search every inch of it. We loved Tulum, which was one of the most relaxing places we've ever visited and we'll definitely go back (as soon as we can persuade Mom and Dad to come again).
